Carl Squires is the new Liberal Democrat councillor for East Hunsbury and Shelfleys

3 Jan 2024

Biography:

Carl has lived in the Hunsbury area for over 35 years and currently serves as chair on the West Hunsbury Parish Council as well as being chair of Governors for Abbeyfield School.

He has recently retired from a senior position in a major automotive finance company, working on various projects in the UK and in Europe.

‘I am passionate about the Hunsbury area, I have raised my family here and appreciate the green open spaces and safe environment we have, my role on the Parish council has enabled me to pursue this and ensure our green spaces are given the attention they deserve.

I have continued to push for closer relationships with organisations around Hunsbury to help create a better sense of community. My role as governor has also shown me the issues our children and teachers have to face, especially since the Covid lockdowns and the lack of local authority support available’.

Carl wants to build on his experience on the Parish council and fight for causes that are meaningful to everyone in the Hunsbury area, particularly problems related to proposed developments in Hunsbury, to ensure this community gets the benefit of the developers’ money and that environment is not adversely impacted.

He wants to take the positive Lib Dem message to the doorstep saying ‘I look forward to the opportunity to fight for these issues and become a champion for Hunsbury on West Northants Council’

Help with Carl's campaign

We don't have the backing of big-business or Union funds so we need your help. You've all seen the stunning success at recent by-elections, where grass roots campaigning allowed us to overturn large Tory majorities. Every little thing you can do will help us in our campaign, so if you could deliver a few leaflets to your street or will display a window poster or garden stakeboard please let us know. Thank you
