“Conservative candidate’s attack on Police Authority is a cynical political ploy” Cllr Brendan Glynane
Member of the Police Authority, Cllr Brendan Glynane, has attacked the Conservative candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner after he attacked cuts to the Police Authority's budget.
Cllr Glynane said "I have seen some hypocritical nonsense in my time in politics, but this not only takes the biscuit but the plate and the ornamental doily beneath it. The Conservative candidate for PCC, who was a top advisor to the Tories at County Hall, has attacked the Tory dominated Police Authority for cuts in their budget this year. The Conservatives who forced through cuts to a host of frontline services at the last Police Authority budget in February, including frontline policing and PCSOs, despite the best attempts of others to stop them at the meeting, were the very same Conservatives that he was working for at the time!"
"Either the Conservative candidate is taking the voters for fools, or he is panicking. Throughout this campaign he has tried to duck his responsibility as a close advisor to the Tory Cabinet who plunged our County into darkness and slashed funds for PCSOs. This latest attempt to distance himself from his Conservative political masters at County Hall is nothing more than a cynical political ploy."
