“£3 Million black hole is further evidence of Council’s incompetence in managing Children’s Services” – Chris Lofts

Cllr. Chris Lofts (Lib Dem, Towcester) has strongly criticised the Conservative administration at County Hall for their ongoing failure to fix the damage they have done to Children's Services in Northamptonshire.

A recent Ofstead report slammed the Council's provision of child services, and today Cllr. Lofts pointed out the current budgetary problems were a direct result of the same incompetence. Cllr lofts told the cabinet member in charge that his assumption that the service would make up the £3 million black hole was "glib" and dangerous.

Chris explains, "The Conservative administration has completely failed to get a handle on Children's services for as long as they have been in charge. They've missed meetings, failed to spot warning signs and otherwise ignored the service - even going so far as to cut £1 Million from the budget last year that they have now had to replace.

"The people of Northamptonshire need reassurance that the Conservatives have finally recognised their disastrous failure in this essential service - but it looks like it's business as usual at County Hall, and they are turning the other way once again."
